contouring, shapes, illamasqua, oh my!

I have been struggling to find something inspirational enough to get a quality post up, but just this morning, I have stumbled across it!

It's something big, I gotta say. It's changed makeup & fashion & STYLE in general for me. I've been looking it up and searching around for 4 hours now and I think it's safe to say:

TOXIC NATURE by Illamasqua has changed everything I ever knew about makeup.

Specifically, this picture right here.

The shading! The contouring! the way they make her face and features stand out!

She looks like a character of herself or an enhanced version of her own features.

What an amaaaaazing concept.

I'm super excited to start experiementing with this concept. So excited, in fact, that I am going to end this post early and go do that right now.

In other non-fashion news, I am expecting to be launching an indie-electro-punk side project. Veru hush hush, not even my boyfriend knows about it yet.

onepeices, red paint, royal housewarmings, oh my!

Today, I am feeling very bold. So bold, in fact, that I pulled out of my (new, walk-in) closet; a onepeice jumper, in a blue and beige small leopard print and gladiator shoes, and didn't even think twice before walking out the door.

I must admit, jumpsuits kind of scare me. They take confidence more than anything to pull off, and today, (with the help of brand ~spanking new makeup and my new pheromone-infused perfume [review coming soon~]), I feel like I can work it!

Today, B & I are going to buy some red & purple paint, red for bedroom - purple for living room, to spice up our walls with. We also need to pick up a futon eventually and some draperies to hang about for my Royal Housewarming, which will be occurring in T-8 days!

Work, work, work!

I'm typing this up on my smartphone at work while I should be diligently working.

Today I am painting my new apartment, finally settling in to my new home. <3 The bedroom will be red, we have beautiful curtains and bedsheets, but no couch... or kitchen table. THRIFTING/IKEA TRIPS ARE IN ORDER!

My mind is pretty much apartment oriented most of the time lately. Pictures and more recent updates are to be expected as soon as I have the time.

WOW~

I haven't posted in so very long! I've just been very, very busy with my off-line life and haven't gotten much time in to blog or read my feed or even waste time on facebook!

I've opened up thee editor in which I write my blogs countless times, only to be intimidated by the vast expanse of writing area and lack of previous posts. I'm not even at home as I write this; I'm at work a bit early, so I stole some time on the computer.

I've been up to a lot though. Here is the very brief rundown of my April.

MY APRIL CONSISTED OF,

• getting a new job @ a sales place.
• falling even more in love with my darlink
• LOTS AND LOTS OF DIY!
• finding old that my other job has given me more hours than I thought, and changing to my summer schedule
• looking for apartments closer to my work (currently, the commute is about an hour or so!)
• finding a PERFECT place! <3
• packing up all of my belongings and sorting through what I need to keep
• getting ready to move on MAY 1st! thats SIX DAYS!
• daydreaming about what furniture and paint i will decor my apartemento with!
• an interview for starbucks!
• much, much more~~

Anyways, I don't have much time before work so I'll update later.

april fool's, job interviews, budgies, oh my!

Good Morning, blogosphere!

Today, in less than two hours, I have a crazy-important job interview. I woke up early, chose my outfit and am now proceeding to freak out a little inside while I try to calm down. The interviewe seemed nice enough on the phone, so here's hoping he likes me as much in person. Wish me luck!

Also, Happy April Fools! For the past four years, I've pulled the same prank. Nobody in my family ever realizes when today comes around, so every year since grade 9, I tell them I'm pregnant. And everybody always forgets the date and flips out. But now, I figure, it's gotten predicatable.

So, I PUT IT ON FACEBOOK. Much laughter ensued.

Also, my budgie Tyson is the cutest thing in the world. He's my favourite thing in the world.

That's my little life-update. Now off to freak out over interview, calm self down, remember I have an interview & repeat process until the big moment.

♥ things i love thursday ~ episode one! ♥

I always love reading all of the TiLT posts that pop up all over the blogosphere, so I'm excited to finally start contributing my own!

♥ BIG things! ♥

♥ My life in movement! I might be getting a really great, high paying job with one of my friends soon. My interview is early tomorrow & I'm so, so excited.~ I've been looking for a new job for a month now. I'm currently a bartender and I absolutely adore my job and the people, but my employment ends when the girl I'm replacing comes back from maternity leave. I was applying furiously to fast food places, depanneurs, bars, receptionist postings, etc. So my surprise when I happened to take a taxi home last Saturday night and a man in the taxi recommended I apply to where he works! I was joking and talking with the people in the taxi and he said that my outgoing personality would be perfect for the job, and recommended to me the name of the place. Then, after I sent my CV to the HR department, they called me just as I was getting on a bus to have a quick phone interview. The man on the phone seemed like an awesome guy, and said he'd call me for a real interview & it's tomorrow! So nervous, but also, terribly exciting!~ :3

♥ The love of my life. My boyfriend, soulmate, matching & balancing personality, muse and the most interesting person I'll ever meet. AKA Benny. He always knows how to brighten my day and make my life my own epic love story. <3

♥ Losing weight. I've been making concious choices about food and exercise and I haven't felt this good in a long, long time! :) I'm excited to join the gym and have tons of energy to do all the crazy things I love to do! :)

Doing hair masks. Cuddling in the morning. Re-connecting with old friends. Making new friends. Playing the Wii with my family. My new Tumblr skin. Changing my desktop background to pictures of people I love. Getting back into Polyvore. My Ray-Ban glasses. Wearing Kitty ears for no reason! Rushing and juust making the bus. My new-found love of muffins! Bugging my best friend about her boyfriend. French manicures. Playing Fallout: New Vegas even though I'm scared of first-person-shooters. Dr Jack M.D. Using crazy straws. Asian karaoke bars! Doing zombie makeup. (Scaring my mom with said zombie makeup! haha! <3) Game night. My new perfume. Going to America on a whim. ♥

Dead is the New Alive!

The ever-fabulous Emilie Autmn said it first: "Dead is the New Alive". But today, I'm not talking about the seemingly beautiful and eloquent obsession with death that humans seem to navigate towards in prose and poetry and such.

I'm talking about zombies.

That's right.

ZOMBIES.

note: not all zombies are sexy. just these ones.

Zombies are... everywhere. It seems like everywhere I turn a new video game, movie or something undead sticks it's hands out of a grave.

Now, I know that if somewhere, somehow, in some strange turn of events there happened to be a zombie apocalpyse... I wouldn't like them so much. I also probably wouldn't survive. But as it stands, the living are living and the dead are dead and life is a one way street. Dead people are not going to start eating the living any time soon.

But, I have to admit, zombie movies are my guilty pleasure. I recently finished season one of The Walking Dead (and what a season!) and am now making my way through all of my favourite zombie movies with my boyfriend.

You think the fashion industry would start to notice this trend! Gaga did, of course, and brought in Rico Genest a.k.a Zombie Boy (who is from my hometown & went to my high school!) to her video Born This Way. But still, the lack of zombies in fashion and couture is kind of surprising.

So, I decided to take it upon myself to create a few looks that are zombie-outbreak friendly! Just because the world is going to hell, doesn't mean you can't look fabulous!
